BLOG #3- May 31st Fight

Hello everyone,

First of all I would like to thank everyone for the well wishes that was sent to me. I truly appreciate it. I fought Vernon White on 05/31/08, At the Cox Pavilion here in Las Vegas. The Show was put on by the Xtreme Fighting Association, XFA2. Although the fight was not as exciting as I would have liked it to be, it was a blessing as no one got hurt and eventually we can continue our careers. White won the fight, but the decision was turned into a no contest after it was determined that he used a banned substance to lose weight. It was also determined that he fully knew that the use of this substance was illegal.

I like Vernon White and really don’t think that he is a bad person. I think that he made a bad choice. However professionally speaking, I’m really upset by his actions. For me dropping weight for a fight is just part of the game. You are contracted to fight at a certain weight and you make that weight, there are no if ands or buts. I refuse to get into my issues, but there were plenty. As a matter of fact, I was not cleared to fight until the Wednesday, before the fight. I still made the weight in spite of that, actually with one pound to go. So where do we go from here. The NAC imposed severe penalties and suspensions to White. I know that everyone have their own ways of dealing with, what we perceive as a problem, if the weight was a problem it should have been brought up before the fight and we could have worked it out, but to use something that is banned is not cool and definitely not right.

There were medical issues, which were plaguing me up until I was cleared. I never once thought of doing anything, other then what was approved by the NAC, to clear them up, I did and was happy that I did.

The question was asked by my one of my handlers if the dietetics used by White, were performance enhancing. The NAC doctor who answered the question stated, YES!! He said that dietetics, help you to lose water weight, but still leave you with the muscle tone, strength and power of your nature weight, thus giving you the edge. When asked why was there no call, to the NAC, to confirm if this substance was ok, White simply laughed and said, he lost their phone number. White paid a severe price for that. In the end hopefully we will fight again, and I promise my fans and supporter that I won’t leave it to the judges. I am healthy and ready to go now, I’m 100%. So, thank you all again.

To Vernon White, this will pass and you will get back to fighting, I only hope that you learned a very valuable lesson for this experience. With that said, may you and your family be blessed with health, love and happiness…Peace, be with you all!!!
